Astilbe is a delicate flower with a strikingly beautiful and feathery plume. Astilbe respresent patience and dedication and are thus an ideal flower for weddings. In Greek, the name Astilbe means “without brilliance” or “without sheen” and alludes to the fact that the individual flowers of this species are small and inconspicuous.
Astilbe are clump-forming perennials with pointed and serrated leaves that sprout fern-like blooms in late summer. The flower panicles stand upright rising above the body of the plant. Depending on the cultivar, the flowers can appear white, pink, purple, lavender, or magenta.
